A reception was held before the March 20 board meeting for Director Bev Horan. Horan stepped down from the board after serving for nearly twelve years. She was serenaded by members of the Sequim High School Vocal Ensemble, directed by John Lorentzen. Several members of the audience expressed their heartfelt thanks during public comment, including two former directors who served with her: Sarah Bedinger and Virginia O'Neil. Bev was presented with a certificate of appreciation by Port Angeles School District Board President Cindy Kelly. The Sequim High School floral arrangement class created an arrangement for the reception.
Five candidates (Jessica Hernandez, Brian Berg, Brian Kuh, Brandino Gibson and Becky Mitchell) were interviewed by the board during the regular meeting. After the board directors returned from executive session, a motion was made and carried to appoint Brian Kuh to carry out the remainder of Horan's term as Director at Large. Many thanks to Bev Horan for her years of good service. Thanks, also, to the five outstanding candidates. Congratulations to Brian Kuh for his appointment!
